It was my understanding that if it was common knowledge that an elder or servant declared bankruptcy they could be deleted. Of course, that would depend on who they were!!! In my area many elders have lost their homes and businesses. The economy was to blame. Who's to say? I feel many have used their homes as an ATM machine and it has come back to haunt them. Oh---they still have their positions.

Are JWs allowed to declare bankruptcy??
by navytownroger inhas anyone known or heard of baptized jws declaring bankruptcy?
if so, wouldn't that amount to 'stealing' from the businesses or persons they owe money to?
when you incur a debt, isn't there a legally-binding 'promise' that you will pay back what you owe?

Can you get disfellowshipped for anything?
by Solace1998 incant the elders make it so that any deviation or any thought could be considered "loose conduct" and therefore a disfellowshipping offense?

I knew a brother that was married and started having "feelings" for another sister in the hall. He went to the elders and that was a big mistake. They came down really hard on him and he lost his temper---disfellowshipped for having a bad attitude. I knew the family well and no wrongdoing was committed.
Majority rules in a JC also. If one elder disagrees with the disfellowshipping the other two can overide it. Sounds like politics huh?

If I recall the brand of soda was Shasta. The flavors were cola and lemon lime. They came frozen or lukewarm---always a surprise. If you wanted to live a little you got frozen orange juice early and by the time lunchtime came along it was thawed. I don't want to get off topic---so another stupid reason to stay is so that I can get up early and pack lunch for my family and try shoving it all under our seats. Good times......

Hi and welcome!!
I was a long-time luker and have finally started posting myself. My heart was beating really fast when I hit the "submit post" for the first time as well. I have a question for you--do you live at home? Are you married? Sharing some of your concerns with a loved one might reveal that they may think the same way you do.
As regards it being the "truth". My husband and I realized that truth does not change. It will always stand the test of time. We were created with a brain that should be used. A religion that encourages estrangement from relatives that don't have the same belief system is not natural---it's barbaric.
